Discovering the Hidden Beauty of the Port of Los Angeles.
In this first entry, I want to share an incredible experience I had at the cargo ports of Los Angeles, California.
For most people, these ports are simply a place where containers are loaded and unloaded. But for me, they are so much more. Each container is a brushstroke in an industrial landscape that transforms into an abstract work of art when viewed from an elevated perspective.
The scale of the ports is impressive. From the air, you can appreciate the immense expanse of meticulously lined up colorful containers and thanks to my drone I was able to capture views that few people have the chance to see.
Cargo containers, those giant metal blocks we see stacked in ports, have a fascinating history. They were invented in the 1950’s by Malcom McLean, an American entrepreneur looking for a more efficient way to transport goods. Before containers, cargo was handled manually, which was slow and costly. The standardization of containers revolutionized global trade, allowing goods to be transported more quickly, safely, and economically across the world.
So, the next time you see these enormous metal blocks, remember that you're not just looking at a simple container but a fundamental piece of modern global trade machinery. And if you pay enough attention you may see the art in it.
