The Historic Palihotel SD.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting San Diego and staying at the charming Palihotel San Diego. Nestled in the heart of downtown, this boutique hotel is a gem with a fascinating history and a unique blend of old-world charm and modern comfort.

Palihotel San Diego is housed in a beautifully remodeled historic building. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, the building has been meticulously restored to retain its vintage allure while offering all the amenities of a contemporary hotel. The moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt like I had traveled back in time and I loved every detail of it, from the vintage décor to the twin elevators, which were once the fastest in the world back in 1913. It was such a cool experience to ride these historic elevators.

Palihotel San Diego features Saint James French Diner, a restaurant and bar blending the utilitarian nature of the American diner with the subtle elegance of French bistro cuisine. Offering weekday breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner, and weekend brunch, the menu is hearty and simple, yet refined by nature, paying homage to roadside food halls in Southern France.”

But that's not all. Those cool elevators take you to a very nice rooftop bar with an exceptional view of San Diego's downtown. The bar offers incredible signature cocktails and if you like smokey and spicy you gotta try the "Wink and a Nudge”, mixed by the friendly Christian Valdivia, a truly master on the craft.
